WHAT IS GOULASH SUPPE?
Goulash soup is a thick, hearty soup that can be served as a side dish or a main course. It combines the intense flavors of stewed meat with a mix of peppers, onions, and potatoes, resulting in a dish that is both comforting and nutritious. The peppers, an essential ingredient, give the soup its characteristic deep red color and a subtle warmth.
THE HISTORY OF GOULASH SUPPE
The dish originates from Hungary, where goulash was originally a stew prepared by shepherds in cauldrons over an open fire. This culinary tradition spread to Austria, where the soup variant quickly became popular. Today, Goulashsuppe is an indispensable part of Austrian cuisine and is a favorite in both mountain huts and home kitchens.
